As set by the International Society of Typographic Design, this brief required an exploration of plants in their broadest form and their impact on human life. In response, I chose to investigate the relationship between flowers and their unique ability to preserve memories. ‘Petals of Memory’ explores the emotional and nostalgic value of pressed flowers, highlighting how they can serve as tangible markers of sentimental moments and personal life journeys.
In today’s fast-paced environment individuals are increasingly seeking ways to reconnect with nature and preserve the most meaningful moments in their lives. People unintentionally turn to nature across all chapters in life e.g. To help mark personal milestones or searching for comfort during moments of difficulty or loss. This book is aimed at people looking for ways to slow down time, and hold onto the memories that matter most.
Through the use of typography this design aims to create an experience that resonates emotionally, inviting readers to pause and reflect on both the past and present whilst emphasising the power flowers and plants have in our everyday lives. The design choices were made with the intent to create a calming, reflective experience and to incorporate imagery through my own personal pressed flower scans to enhance emotional depth. The minimalist layout prioritises negative space to encourage stillness and reflection.
